The latter company was registered on 23/11/1920. The first two tickets are from the period prior to that date – possibly c.1915. The ‘Ltd.’ ticket is post-1920, but prior to the change to numerical stages in 1924/25. (3)£80
17L&NW & FURNESS JOINT RAILWAYS issued 3rd singles from Cleator Moor to Moor Row showing the change in printing style. The stations were closed on 13/4/1931 and 7/1/1935 respectively, but were re-opened for short periods during the 1940s. (2)£40

31HULL & SELBY RAILWAY unused paper ticket with counterfoil for a 1st Class Up journey from Eastrington in 184_. The ticket is slightly discoloured with age, but is very collectable coming from this short-lived title. The H&S opened on 1/7/1840, but was leased to the York & North Midland Railway on 1/8/1845. It was purchased by the NER in 1872. (1)£40

64DAVID MACBRAYNE BANAVIE & LOCH NESS STEAMER SERVICE: A collection of 10 whole Edmondsons and 11 severed halves, all but two of which bear dates in 1902 and were clearly used. All, however, also bear cancellation stamps, which was probably the practice during that period. The other issues are a single from Foyers to Inverness dated 22/6/1933 and an undated Steamer/Car return for use between Inverness and Fort Augustus. Several piers are included. (10wh 11hlf)£30

This concern was registered in 1877, but went into liquidation in 1909. It would appear that the company printed new stocks every year, as a half ticket in the lot has 1906 in the text. The extension to Stubbs Road Penn Fields was opened on 10/9/1909, but did not last long as the whole of the Wolverhampton system closed by the end of 1928. A couple of the tickets have minor fading marks, but this should not detract. Geographical prints were replaced by numerical stage tickets prior to the closure of the system (3)£65

334THE NORTHERN RAILWAY (IRELAND) type IN22 LUGGAGE LABEL Dunleer to Markethill in VGC. This short-lived title was adopted when the Dublin & Drogheda Railway and the Dublin & Belfast Junction Railway merged on 1st March 1875 and the Irish North Western Junction Railway joined it from 1st January 1876. However, when the Ulster Railway joined from 1st April 1876 the title Great Northern Railway (Ireland) was adopted. This lot also contains an INWR type II11 label to Carrigans in VGC and a type ID21 label Dublin to Beragh. Extremely scarce, but label has a bad Sellotape stain. (3)£20
