A 1d white single with four numerical stages is also included. The Wednesfield route closed on 23/7/1923 and the whole system by the end of 1928. | 50 | THE HARTLEPOOL ELECTRIC TRAMWAYS 1d off white geographical punch type TRAM TICKET with the five named stages. The company was authorised to rebuild the defunct 3 6” gauge Hartlepool Steam Tramways using overhead electric power and was opened on 19th May 1896 finally reaching nearly 7 miles in length. West Hartlepool Corporation took over the system in August 1912. The system finally succumbed to trolleybus replacement when the Seaton Carew line closed on 25th March 1927. The Laconia an 18,000 ton vessel entered service in 1912 but was torpedoed and sunk off the Irish coast on 25/2/1917, with the loss of 12 lives an act which led to the USA entering WW1.
