6BEXLEY COUNCIL TRAMWAYS AND DARTFORD LIGHT RAILWAYS named stage punch type TRAM TICKETS comprising 3d pink (/) and 7d orange, together with a longer 6d green Workman’s Ticket with both named and numbered stages (glue marks from previous mounting). The systems of these two UDCs were operated as a joint enterprise from 4/1921. They were taken over by London Transport on 1/7/1933, but were closed in favour of trolleybuses in 1935. (3)£180

20EUROPEAN RAIL TICKETS: A loose mounted collection of around 280 tickets from a dozen countries, of which just over 70% are Edmondsons or similar size thin card issues, with 24 of these being platform tickets. The predominant countries are France, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. Most of the tickets were issued between the 1940s and 1970s, but odd earlier examples noted from Switzerland (1897), Belgium, and France. (c.280)£200
21NORTH BRITISH RAILWAY: An all issued selection comprising a 3rd Extension Week End to Ordinary single Edinburgh Waverley Station to Dunfermline Lower Station, a 3rd single Edinburgh Waverley Station to Innerleithen, and a blank card bicycle sgl from Silloth, made out to Penrith. (3)£55
22BR(S): A collection of 81 issued and 69 audit whole. The issued tickets include closed stations such as Bodmin North, Bournemouth West, Swanage, Tipton St. Johns, and Yeovil Town, plus a high proportion of transitional and 3rd Class issues. Most of the audits are from closed stations. Barcombe, Brasted, Codford, Heytesbury, Sheffield Park, Wishford, Worthy Down Halt, and Wyle noted, as well as stations in Devon and Cornwall. Some stations are duplicated, but not individual prints. Also contains a good proportion of transitional and 3rd Class prints. (150)£210

28THE WIGAN CORPORATION TRAMWAYS 1d blue named stage punch type TRAM TICKET, together with WIGAN CORPORATION TRAMWAYS numbered stage issues at 3d and 4d, an unclipped 6d return available between Market Place and Ashton, and a 1d Passengers’ Luggage & Dog Ticket. The first named is by Williamson, the others by Auto Ticket. (5)£40
29GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY EDMONTON & CHESHUNT LINE 3rd Class punch type 2d single covering journeys between Cheshunt and Churchbury and Theobalds Grove and Lower Edmonton. Churchbury opened on 1/10/1891, but closed on 1/10/1909. It was re-opened, mainly for the use of WW1 munitions workers, on 1/3/1915, but closed again on 1/7/1919. After a gap of more than 41 years it re-opened once more on 21/11/1960 under the new name of Southbury. Theobalds Grove had a similar history, but did not change its name. (1)£60

32LONDON, BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY issued singles printed on obsolete card, comprising 1st Class Victoria to Clapham (white with red “C” overprint on right), and 3rd Class Crystal Palace Station to Wandsworth Common (green / white vertical stripes), Slinford to Horsham (green / white / brown horizontal bands; red cross on right), Tulse Hill to North Dulwich (white / green horizontal bands; blue cross on right), and Wallington to Clapham Junc. The Bristol ticket is a type OS5 (Geldard, Solo Publications 2008) with the serial number on the right only (introduced c.1867); the Cheltenham ticket is the subsequent type OS6 with serial numbers at both ends and origin station repeats, but in this case with the company title in the less common format of lower case with initial capitals (introduced c.1873). A temporary station was opened on the same day, being eventually replaced by a permanent structure on 1/1/1878. This ticket is therefore from the temporary 2nd station.
