5LNER T3C PLATFORM TICKET from Southend-on-Sea (Cen.), dated 16/4/1951 and in VGC. This station was originally opened by the LT&SR, passing subsequently to the MR and later LM&SR. It was never owned by the LNER. However, following nationalisation it was transferred to the Eastern Region of British Railways. Initially, tickets were ordered from the former LNER printing works, many, like this example, being produced with the old company title. (1)£30
6ROAD MOTORS LTD., LUTON punch type BUS TICKETS by Bell Punch London at fares from 1d to 7d inclusive in penny stages. These prints, which are from the first post-geographical series and date from c.1919, just show the operator’s name and address, and that timetables can be obtained from the conductors, with fares overprinted in red block numerals. 17HIGHLAND RAILWAY issued 3rd Parly single Kinloss to Elgin, together with a 3rd Weekend Return from Tain to Wick, and two severed halves – o/h Pitlochry to Dunkeld, and r/h Inverness to Grantown. The date on the Kinloss ticket is not square to the edge, but appears to be 16/9/1903, which would make the issuing station the one at the junction with the Findhorn line that was re-sited in 05/1904. All of the tickets have excess paper on the backs from previous mounting, which should be removable with care. (2wh 2hlf)£230

23PWLLHELI & LLANBEDROG TRAMWAYS: Two used 6d roll type HORSE TRAM TICKETS, one coloured pink for the through journey from Pwllheli to Llanbedrog, the other blue for a journey in the opposite direction. The tramways were the brainchild of Solomon Andrews – ‘S. Andrews & Son’ appears in the text on the latter ticket, which also has a small section missing at the top, probably as a cancellation mark. The link to Llanbedrog opened c.1897 and closed after gales washed away part of the track on 28/11/1927. Both tickets have light pencil annotations which record that they were used in the last year of operation. (2)£85
24CRYSTAL PALACE HIGH LEVEL LINE: A collection of mainly issued whole Edmondsons for journeys from and to stations on this line, which closed in 1954. Most are RE issues, but SR examples also included. These tickets are different from those offered in Lot 424. (30)£160
