12LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD all different fareboard geographical punch type BUS TICKETS from Service 231 Hampstead Heath South End Green – variously to Park Royal/ Harlesden/Minerva Road/Kew Green issued between c.1933-1939. A selection of tickets is offered to show changes in stage names/route patterns in the period covered. Condition is mostly good with some unusual/rare issues noted. Note: This is the continuation of the disposal of a comprehensive collection of London Bus, Tram and Trolleybus tickets assembled over 50 years ago which commenced in 2001. They have been sorted and lotted into “geographical” areas and in this catalogue the routes serving Kilburn and Willesden areas are featured. The “geographical” theme will continue in further batches of tickets from this collection in our September and November 2003 catalogues. Be sure to look out for the other lots in this catalogue. Many different and unusual “types” noted including through to Underground with “Railway” overprint, Exchange, Return, Scholar Return, etc., with many examples which would be difficult to find issued. All have various degrees of gum residue where they have been stuck into a stock book and many have a blue crayon mark to denote that they have been superseded by a later issue. The poster which measures 10½” x 14½” has been mounted on card, framed and glazed. From information written on the back of the card it could have originated at Baker Street, Kings Cross, Victoria or Waterloo. Exactly why the poster has been framed is unknown, but seems to be contemporary with the issue of the poster. The wooden frame, which appears to be original, measures 21” x 25”. 200CARR’S OF CARLISLE tinplate TOY BUS which doubles as a biscuit tin with removal roof for biscuit storage. 5½” high x 10” long x 3½” wide modelled on STL 446 in red and cream livery with silver roof operating on Route 25 Seven Kings – Victoria Station. This toy was produced by the Chad Valley Company in the 1930s and sometimes has a clockwork mechanism. This is thought to be the rarer version without clockwork. Complete and with signs of use and slight corrosion, but in good condition overall. (1)£310
