The large letter “G” in black on the yellow background front is thought to stand for the surname of the child, but the reverse side shows that it was issued to “Nellie Canning” of East Dulwich who attended Adys Road School with the Ticket Number 126. Perhaps it was a coach letter? Measures 3¾” x 3¾” and is made from a type of linen cloth with evidence that it was sewn onto a blazer or similar clothing. A very rare item in VGC.
