PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise stated, all tickets are whole Edmondson card in what we consider to be "good" condition. However, some may have paper, glue or Sellotape residue on the back due to previous mounting. Due to limitations of space, we may not always point this out in the catalogue description, for which we apologise. Customers should satisfy themselves as to the condition of tickets prior to bidding.

It was closed as a result of the war from 1/1/1916 to 5/1/1920, and again for three months from 11/4/1921 and 2 weeks from 22/9/1924, before finally closing on a permanent basis on 22/9/1930. (1)£160
3HIGHGATE HILL TRAMWAYS LTD. 1d white punch type CABLE TRAM TICKET for the journey between Archway Tavern and Highgate, and vice versa. This short system operated from 29/5/1884 to 23/8/1909. VGC. (1)£45
4GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY selection of from/to LUGGAGE LABELS comprising nine different examples each of type G72 and G75. Origin stations of G72 are: Addlestrop, Basingstoke, Grange Court, Great Malvern, Oxford, Ruabon, Somerton, Tiddington, Weymouth; G75: Bridport, Gloucester, Hayle, Monm’th (Troy), Oxford, Trawsfynydd, Trevor, Tiverton Junc. 5SOUTH EASTERN & CHATHAM RAILWAY T1 Red Blob PLATFORM TICKET Margate West (Down Office) (S1). The ticket, which is in VGC is dated, but year is unclear. This station was renamed Margate on 11/7/1926. (1)£130
6POTTERIES BUS OPERATORS: A selection of Inward / Outward punch type BUS TICKETS by Keates of Hanley comprising a 4d from EVANS & FINNEY BUS SERVICE, 4d from HERON CROSS MOTOR SERVICE, 2d and 4d from HUGHES BROS Providence Square, Hanley, and 3d from THE LION BUS SERVICE, Proprietor T. Stanway, Shelton. The lot also includes 2d, 3d and 9d Inward Journey / Outward Journey Williamson prints from IMPERIAL GARAGE with Len Pritchard “Taxis, Chara’s, Saloons “ adverts on the backs – two with a Central phone number; one with a Hanley number. In addition, there is a 4d print from the same company in a different format, with the advertisement on the front and an address of Corporation Street, Stoke-on-Trent, but no reference to Len Pritchard. Evans & Finney of Bucknall were absorbed by T. Beckett in 1930, Heron Cross went to Stoke-on-Trent Motors in 1925. The other concerns are believed to have been absorbed in the early 1930s. (9)£120

8LONDON INDEPENDENT BUS OPERATORS: A selection of mainly numerical stage punch type BUS TICKETS from such diverse companies as Ambassador Bus Co. Ltd, City Motor Omnibus Co.≠, Claremont Omnibus Services, Earswool*, Peraeque*, Renown Traction Company (named stage – Service 15A), Shanghai Motor Omnibus (Golden Arrow), United Omnibus Co., Webber Bros., and Westminster Omnibus Co. (≠ = “Omnibus Ticket”, with advert for City New Empress Saloons from Kentish Town to Southend on back; * = “Omnibus Ticket”, with company identified in pencil on back.). This is part of a tram and bus ticket collection which was started in 1923 and mainly amassed between 1927 and 1934. The tickets are generally in good and sometimes VG condition, but a number have excess paper and slight Bd from previous mounting. See also lots identified elsewhere in this auction. (10)£50

10ASHOVER LIGHT RAILWAY. A selection of unused Bell Punch singles in excellent condition, consisting of 1d white (A1), 2d blue (B4), 3d orange (B4), 4d pink (C2), 5d green (A6). When the line opened there were two series of single tickets – A and B. However, while all the tickets in this lot bear Bell Punch Uxbridge 3-25 imprints it is known that the 2d B4 series is a reprint. from 1928, or slightly later, while the 4d C2 issue dates from November 1935. 11LIVERPOOL UNITED TRAMWAYS & OMNIBUS CO. 4cm x 4.5cm HORSE TRAM TICKET for a 2d journey on the West Derby Line. This concern was formed by amalgamation in 1876 and was taken over by Liverpool Corporation on 1/1/1897. The ticket is in good condition for its age, but has a little excess paper on the back, which should be removable with care. (1)£75

An early purple 1d roll ‘School Ticket’ from this TRAMWAY company, which was incorporated in 1894 after Edinburgh Corporation had purchased the lines in the City from the Edinburgh Street Tramways Co and leased them to Dick, Kerr & Co Ltd. The Corporation re-assumed control of the system in 1919. (1)£20
32SOUTH EASTERN & CHATHAM RAILWAY issued 3rd singles from Charing Cross, Margate West (renamed 11/7/1926), New Beckenham, New Eltham & Pope St. (renamed 26/9/1927), and Tunbridge Wells, together with a thin card Dog ticket from Gravesend Central not exceeding 20 miles, and SE&C&D RYS issued 3rd singles from Dover Priory to Dover Harbour (closed 11/7/1927), Holborn Viaduct to Penge, and Brixton to Uxbridge Road for Shepherd’s Bush (with green and white horizontal bands and three lines of routing). 33CITY OF OXFORD & DISTRICT TRAMWAYS COMPANY LIMITED 1d light brown punch type HORSE TRAM TICKET for use between Broad Street and Magdalen Road, and Magdalen Road and Iffley Turn, in VGC. This company was renamed City of Oxford Electric Tramways Ltd. in 1908, but electrification proposals never came to fruition, and the system closed in the summer of 1914. (1)£120

Five of the tickets are 1d white, two with an “Extra” portion and sections 1, 2 and 3 at the bottom, while the other three have a “Workpeople” section and a North End and Clarence Pier stage. 244LONDON BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY. A LUGGAGE LABEL/TICKET or PASS which may have been used as identification on an educational excursion trip or outing. The large letter “G” in black on the yellow background front is thought to stand for the surname of the child, but the reverse side shows that it was issued to “Nellie Canning” of East Dulwich who attended Adys Road School with the Ticket Number 126. Perhaps it was a coach letter? Measures 3¾” x 3¾” and is made from a type of linen cloth with evidence that it was sewn onto a blazer or similar clothing. A very rare item in VGC. We have only seen one of these previously from the SE&CR. (1)£45
